I am a qualified hypnotherapist and counsellor. I am also a registered Human Givens psychotherapist and Cruse bereavement counsellor. My background is in medicine where I qualified as a doctor and worked in Psychiatry before having my children.

What is my approach?

I offer a free initial appointment so that we can meet to discuss your situation and what I can do to help. This may be learning ways to deal with anxiety or depression, or coming to terms with upsetting events in the past. It could be looking at your relationship with food, or building motivation to take steps towards a healthier lifestyle and feeling better about yourself.

In the following sessions we will decide on your goals and then use visualization to rehearse the person you want to be. I will also teach you about self-hypnosis, a state of deep relaxation where you can quieten the conscious part of your mind and access the subconscious mind. This is important for changing how you feel about yourself and can give you a way to make the changes you want.

The Human Givens approach is often particularly helpful because it is solution-focused and aims to be effective in 2-4 sessions. There is also a helpful website and range of books on anxiety, depression and pain management available on Amazon.

What conditions respond well to hypnotherapy and counselling?

If you are suffering from stress, feeling anxious or depressed, counselling can help you explore the contributing factors and hypnotherapy gives you the power to make effective changes. It can give you the ability to relax deeply which is very healthy for your mind and body.
